The Unit has 10 inpatient beds and 20 day patient beds and is one
of the largest specialised units treating patients with anorexia and
bulimia nervosa in Australia. The unit was established to provide
a highly specialised treatment programme for individuals suffering
from eating disorders and to facilitate further research on eating
disorders. Several research projects are currently being undertaken.
Some research projects have been funded by the National Health and
Medical Research Council of Australia.
Wesley Hospital is a designated teaching hospital both the Faculties
of Science and Medicine, The University of Sydney. Medical students,
Clinical Psychology interns attend the Eating Disorders Programme
during their psychiatry term.

The Department of Psychology at the University of Sydney was the first

75th anniversary in 1996. It is now the largest department within the

including three Professors.
