Specific areas include:

). Interaction analysis of doctor-patient communication
). Evaluation of strategies to improve doctor-patient communication, including the provision of question prompt lists, letters summarising the consultation, audiotapes of the consultation and decision aids
). Methodological issues in patient education and doctor-patient communication
). Evaluation of the impact on doctor and patient outcomes of communication skills training
). Impact of psychosocial factors on health outcomes in melanoma and breast cancer
). Impact of informal and formal support networks on quality of life and use of formal services in patients with metastatic cancer.
). Impact of genetic testing and counseling on women at high risk of developing breast cancer and those with breast cancer
). Development of guidelines in communicating risk and prognosis to women with breast cancer
