Receptor autoradiography using [125I] RTI-55 to label serotonin transporters in vehicle Wistar rats (A), rats treated with a low dose of MDMA (B) and rats treated with a high dose of MDMA (C). Significant decrease in serotonin transporters are observed in both high and low dose MDMA groups in cortical areas and the medial hypothalamus, whilst decreases in the lateral septum, amygdaloid nuceli, hippocampus and thalamic nuclei are seen in the high dose group alone.
