PHYSIOLOGICAL MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT:
For anyone interested in physiological measurement on the main
campus (ie. researchers who do not have access to such equipment
at Westmead etc.), the School has two Thought Technology Ltd. acquisition
units (and sensors). The provided PC software records the physiological
data from the acquisition units (via USB) and also has options for
the presentation of biofeedback programs.
Equipment we hold:
The equipment we own is held in the Test
Library and includes:
1 x Procomp infiniti 8 channel acquisition unit
1 x Procomp 2 channel acquisition unit (with built-in EEG sensor)
2 x Galvanic Skin Response (Skin Conductance) sensors
2 x Blood Volume Pulse (Heart Rate) sensors
2 x MyoScan-Pro EMG sensors
1 x Voltage Isolator (allows for construction of your own electrical
input, for eg. synchronisation of data with a PIO PC-card)
We need to ensure appropriate and safe use of this equipment
in order to protect both clients/subjects and the equipment itself
from harm. Consequently, please speak to Martin
Daly regarding training in the use of this equipment and software,
especially if you are new to physiological measurement. For further
information on any of the equipment, please refer to the Thought
Technology Ltd. web-site.
Additional sensors:
There are a variety of other sensors available from Thought
Technology, including skin temperature, respiration, EKG, etc.
If you are considering using such measurements in your research,
or wish to run multiple sensors at the same time (eg. running
multiple subjects concurrently), and have funding, talk
to Martin Daly
about the possibility of purchasing additional sensors. We would
hope you might then donate any additional sensors you purchase
to our physiological equipment collection, so as to increase the
range and flexibility of the main campus's physiological measurement
capability.
