Graphics Laboratory
The School of Psychology provides a modern equipped Graphics Laboratory for staff and research students. more
Test
Library
The School has an extensive library of psychological tests available for borrowing by staff and research students. Go to the test library web site for locations, contact details, more information on borrowing, or to search the test library catalogue on-line. more
University
of Sydney Psychology Librarians
The Psychology Librarians at Fisher Library provide a range of services for psychological research. The link will take you to the Fisher Library psychology guide, allowing access to the full range of psychological databases currently accessible through the library (PsycINFO, Mental Measurements Yearbook, Medline, and many more...), a list of psychology videos in the library, details on library training classes (eg. in the use of EndNote, PsycINFO, etc.), a range of psychology reference books/webpages (dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.), and much more. more
RESEARCH EQUIPMENT
Physiological
Measurement Equipment (main campus)
The School owns 2 acquisition units (and sensors) for the collection of physiological data on the main campus. We currently have sensors allowing for measurement of: Blood-Volume Pulse (heart rate), Galvanic Skin Response (skin conductance), EMG (muscle activity), and a single EEG sensor. more
LICENSED SOFTWARE
LabVIEW
LabVIEW delivers a powerful graphical development environment for signal acquisition, measurement analysis, and data presentation, giving you the flexibility of a programming language without the complexity of traditional development tools.
Matlab
MATLAB is a high-level technical computing language and interactive environment for algorithm development, data visualization, data analysis, and numerical computation. Using MATLAB, you can solve technical computing problems faster than with traditional programming languages, such as C, C++, and Fortran. more
LimeSurvey - Web-based
Questionnaires for Research
LimeSurvey is an open source questionnaires software that allows easy construction of on-line questionnaires for staff or research students who wish to run questionnaires in an electronic format through the Internet. The program is highly flexible, allowing a range of types of answer styles (multiple-choice, likert scale, short-answer, etc.) and more complex elements such as graphics and conditional branching. Once constructed, the questionnaires are run from the School's server and results can be downloaded through a web browser.
Inquisit
Inquisit is a psychological experiment generator that allows the researcher to create custom questionnaires, reaction time tasks, signal detection tests, attitude measures, and experiments in cognition and perception.
RUNSTIM (ver 4.1.0)
RUNSTIM is a program that runs under MS-DOS, which can be used to program a variety of visual and auditory stimulus. The program reads a description file containing details of how the stimulus is to be presented, then executes the requested sequence. more
S
S is a language and system for organizing, visualizing, and analyzing data. S has from the start been aimed at programming with data; that is, at describing to the computer some graphical view, numerical summary, statistical model, or other information you want to produce. It occupies a middle ground between packages that emphasize standard operations and research projects in language design that start from a more abstract goal.
SPSS
SPSS is a Statistical Analysis Software. It is available for both Windows and Macintosh Computers.
SuperCard 4.0
SuperCard allows you to create professional quality custom applications, presentations and multimedia rich projects in the quickest and easiest manner possible. SuperCard is only available for Macintosh Computers.
SuperLab
SuperLab is an experimental lab software for building experiments, running them on subjects, and collecting data. You can use it to build most types of experiments that require presenting visual stimuli on the screen, auditory stimuli via speakers, controlling or synchronizing with lab equipment such as fMRI, EEG, shutters, and so forth. The collected data, which includes reaction time, is saved in text-only file which can be read by almost all spreadsheet or statistics software. SuperLab is available for both Windows and Macintosh Computers. Please contact the if you are interested or have further inquieres about any of the above software. |
