Mentoring program:

When: Wednesday 6th of May, 3-4pm OR 4-5pm, whichever is more convenient for you
Where: Holme Common Room
What's going on: In case you haven't read the emails, 1st/2nd year Psych students will be mentees, and will be matched up with mentors (3rd/4th years) on Wednesday. If you can't make it, don't fret, just send us an email at usydpsyche@gmail.com.

What do you get out of it?

For the mentees, you will get to know someone with more experience with psychology (and uni in general, probably), who will be able to give you friendly advice about future years in Psych. Imagine getting to the end of 1st year and not knowing whether to continue with Psych, or to the end of 2nd and being unsure about what electives to choose. Your mentor will be able to give you invaluable, first-hand advice. Of course, if you need some extra help with your course that you can't get from your lecturers/tutors/friends, or if you are curious about anything, having this mentor to turn to is nice.

For the mentors, well, I’m guessing quite a few of us got into Psych because we want to help others out - so here's an easy way to do it. It's also an easy way to offload your books at the end of the year, and a way to get extra participants for your experiments (whether or not it actually has to do with what you're studying ;]). In addition, Psyche will be able to print you a certificate recognising your efforts in this endeavour if you so desire - would be great for the ole resume!

Of course, it's just great to get to know someone interesting in another year, and it should be a fun experience, not too time consuming.
