Dust Disease Board of NSW Grant Awarded

Congratulations to Dr Haryana Dhillon who is part of a research group successful in its Dust Disease Board of NSW Research Grant application.

Investigators: Steven Kao, Weng Ng, Janette Vardy, Haryana Dhillon, Prunella Blinman

Project Title: Chemotherapy utilisation for malignant mesothelioma patients – optimal rate, barriers to access and patient preferences

Project Summary: The overall goal of this project is to determine the optimal chemotherapy utilisation rate in people with malignant mesothelioma from the literature using a validated modelling method, and then to determine whether there is under-utilisation of chemotherapy in Australia. Potential patient- and physician-related barriers to receiving chemotherapy will be evaluated and patients’ preferences for chemotherapy in malignant mesothelioma will be determined to help bridge the gap between the established best evidence and the care actually provided in Australia.

Funding: $215,535.67 over two years

Well done!
