A full time research assistant is required to assist in all aspects
of conducting an ongoing study examining the role of psychosocial
factors in the development of breast cancer in women from high-risk
breast cancer families. The position is based at the Royal North
Shore Hospital. The primary focus of this position is the recruitment
of participants to the study, conducting research interviews over
the telephone, producing and presenting written reports of the interview
for coding, and assisting with maintaining the project database.
The position may require some out of hours work on occasion.
Essential criteria: Completion of an Honours Degree in Psychology
(or one of the Behavioural Sciences); previous experience working
on a research project; demonstrable ability to work effectively
independently and as part of a team; demonstrable organisational
and communication skills; skills with databases and statistics.
Desirable criteria: Skills in conducting semi-structured interviews;
data coding and entry; knowledge of or experience with cancer; training
in non-directive counselling techniques.
The position is full-time fixed term for 18 months, subject to
the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
There is the possibility of further offers of employment for three
years, subject to funding and need. Successful applicants will be

Remuneration package: up to $51,269 - $57,447 p.a.
(which includes a base salary Level 5 $43,323 - $48,544 p.a., leave
loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation)
