Indigenous Programs

At the Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic (GTRC), we are committed to developing culturally sensitive counselling practices of the highest standards, to enhance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Cultural Awareness Training

Our psychologists undergo training in cultural awareness to ensure that our staff have an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Most recently, our staff have undergone training with Paul Sinclair of Mirri Mirri, an Aboriginal owned company specialising in raising awareness and understanding of Indigenous cultures.

Outreach Programs

The Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic is proud to be building partnerships with Marrin Weejali Aboriginal Corporation and Ngallu Wal Aboriginal Child and Family Centre, to reach members of the Aboriginal Community. GTRC psychologist, Marty Wieczorek, is currently running and promoting DBT groups at these important community centers, and also offering treatment for individuals suffering from problem gambling and related issues. We're proud to be providing our services to these important communities.

The Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic recognises the Dharug, Dharawal and Eora people as the Traditional Owners of the places where our clinics stand, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
