Counselling Services

Counselling is a two-part process and focuses on both helping people cut back or stop gambling and helping people cope with the problems that gambling has caused.

The GTC has three general aims:

  • To provide a range of appropriate treatment approaches to help excessive gamblers cut back or stop gambling.
  • To provide support for individuals in addressing the problems associated with excessive gambling.
  • To evaluate the extent to which individuals are helped by the counselling they receive.

We provide:

  • Clinical assessment and referral
  • Evidence-based treatment
  • Supportive counselling
  • Counselling for family members and friends

Effectiveness of treatment is evaluated at the commencement and cessation of treatment, as well as 6, 12 and 24 months after completion of treatment.
