Resources for Parents

Parenthood presents us with joys but also challenges. While we can meet many such challenges by drawing on our experience and support structures, such as family and friends, there are also times when we need other reliable sources of information. We might find, for example, that a child’s bedwetting goes on longer than expected or that the arrival of a new sibling brings out behaviours in older children that are difficult to understand and manage. Alternatively, we might be uncertain about how we can best promote our children’s self-esteem or help them develop confidence in their own actions and judgments. Getting reliable, balanced information on these kinds of issues can be difficult, and this is where ERiC has a role.

The resources contained in these pages are designed to give you information that you can rely on, information that will help you navigate some of the challenges that you will face as a parent. Most of the resources you will find here are not developed by ERiC. Rather, you will find links to trustworthy and balanced information from a variety of sources. In addition, all links have been scrutinized by developmental and child clinical psychologists at the University of Sydney.
