Agenda of Meeting: September 23, 1999
Individual Differences and Assessment Laboratory, Department of Psychology, University of Sydney
Chair: Richard D. Roberts
Minutes: Joel B. Werner
- Minutes of Meeting, August 19th 1999
See Attachment A.
- Director of Individual Differences and Assessment Laboratory Appointed
Lazar Stankov has officially been appointed Director of the Unit in Individual Differences and Computer-Based Psychological Assessment, Department of Psychology, University of Sydney. Lazar will discuss what this position means to the lab. Congratulations and all the best Lazar -- you deserve this position in recognition of your outstanding scholarly research (conducted so consistently) over the years.
- Project Updates
- Roberts would like to request that all fourth years send him their draft empirical theses in both hard copy and disk form -- his handwriting is pretty near illegible and with new editing facilities common to virtually all word-processors this would appear a judicious course of action.
- Discussion of issues related to fourth year students intending to pursue postgraduate studies in 2000. This would appear an excellent opportunity to discuss scholarships and the like with postgraduates who have some experience in this regard.
- Congratulations to each of the fourth years for their excellent presentations in the Individual Differences Seminar series. Feedback from this forum suggests that each student has found that this has helped solidify his or her ideas.
- Other Business
- Project Updates
- Department of Psychology, University of Sydney Inaugural Postgraduate Conference. We wish those people who had papers accepted at this conference (Kathryn Ryan, Sabina Kleitman, Fadi Anjoul, and Gerry Pallier) all the best with their presentations. Gerry Pallier has worked tirelessly in organising this event and he is to be congratulated on what looks like an excellent program. Both Gerry and Richard will chair sessions.
- Other Business
On Thursday, 17th September an informal working bee furnished MM 728 for paper-and-pencil testing. (Thanks to all those who helped [in particular Kathryn, Sabina, Gerry, Rebecca Runice, and Rebecca Wilkinson]!) MM 728 seats approximately 20 people and will be used by Stankov for research on amorality and by Roberts for research on circadian type, personality, and time management.
The new touch screen has been installed in S371.
SPSS Version 9 has been installed on certain computers in S371 and on Stankov and Roberts' machines.
The lab has acquired 4 copies of Super's Stereoacuity Timed Tester. This instrument may prove invaluable to future fourth years or those of you intending to pursue postgraduate studies.
Roberts has requested a copy of Dreamweaver 2 from HoD.
- Individual Differences and Assessment WWW site
Version 2 of our WWW site should be 'released' for this meeting. There are still several 'holes' in the site, which Version 3 will seek to redress. Please begin 'signing' your e-mails with details of the site. I will send everyone the exact URL when it comes to hand (i.e., King-sing Shun gives it to me).
