Starting Internships

The Coordinator of Internships (Judy Hyde) arranges allocation of DCP/MSc students to clinical internships.
In order to commence clinical internships in the Psychology Clinic, please provide a copy of the following items 1-2 to the Admin Officer (Belinda Ingram).
To commence external clinical internships please provide the following items 1-6 to your Supervisor.

1. "NSW Psychologists Registration Board: Authority to Practice: Provisional Conditional Registration or Full Registration" card. Prior to commencing the DCP/MSc program, all students were required to apply for provisional or full registration with Registration Board. Following successful application, the Registration Board mails this card to your home address.

2. "NSW Health Clinical Placement Authority" Criminal Record Clearance card. During enrolment for first year of the DCP/MSc program, students complete criminal record check forms at the Faculty of Science. NSW Health then mails this card to your home address.

3. All students were provided with an Adult Vaccination Record Card by the Faculty of Science during enrolment in the first year of the DCP/MSc program. Students are to have the required or recommended vaccinations and provide evidence in the form of the Adult Vaccination Record card.

4. "Professional indemnity insurance" form. The professional indemnity insurance form covers students on clinical internships. The form may be downloaded and provided to your supervisor.

5. External Clinical Internship Handbook. Please provide to your Supervisor of a copy of the External Clinical Internship Handbook. You may download an electronic version here or you may obtain a hard copy from the Admin Officer (Belinda Ingram).

6. Clinical Internships forms. For all internal and external clinical internships, students are required to complete the following forms: Supervision contract, Mid Internship Review (MIR), End of Internship Review (EIR), Weekly Clinic Logs and an Interns' Evaluation. Forms may be downloaded from the web. Forms are to be filed in the Internship folder and submitted to the Admin Assistant (Cindy Li).


7. "Honorary Associate" appointed Clinical Supervisors. If you supervisor is not currently appointed as an "Honorary Associate" Clinical Supervisor at the University of Sydney, they will be required to be formally appointed before commencing supervision. For the student to be covered by the University's insurance the supervisor must be formally appointed to the University as an Honorary Associate.
