Application forms

Where do I find the application forms?

Application forms may be downloaded from this website. Click on the link to 'application forms'. The forms will be downloaded as Adobe Acrobat PDF files. If you have trouble downloading the forms, contact the Clinical Psychology Unit, Faculty of Science or International Office directly.

When are application forms available?

Application forms are available from September each year.

Can I complete the application forms prior to September?

Application forms are reviewed and updated by the CPU, Faculty and University in August each year. Prior to September the main University application form is under review and will change. Applications forms available from the website prior to September are intended as a guide only. Application forms are published on the website as soon as available. Please note a complete application includes the main university application form and supporting documentation as well as the referee report forms (and in the case of International Students, the background information sheet as well). An application can not be evaluated until it is complete.

Can I use last year's application forms (available on the web) to apply this year?

NO, please note that previous years forms available on the web are intended as a guide only, as they will be inaccurate and out of date. Updated and current application forms must be completed once available from the website, normally by September.

Can I start to prepare my application using last year forms?

Forms available from previous years are intended as a guide only. As the application forms generally only change slightly from year to year, you may get an idea of the content of the form and prepare responses based on this. However, please only submit your application when the current year application forms are released. As forms are released from September there is still approximately two months to complete your application.

I applied last year, do I need to fill out all the application forms again?

YES. If you applied in previous years, you still need to re-complete ALL the new application forms for the current year. Your application for this year will not be considered from using last years application forms. All applications forms are returned to the Faculty of Science after the evaluation procedure, and stored in the Faculty Office for a short period. After a certain period, all unsuccessful application forms are destroyed. Please contact the Faculty of Science for information regarding previous application forms.

Do I have to submit both an academic and work experience referee report?

Applicants must submit two referee reports: one must be an academic referee report and one may be a work experience referee report (if applicable). Noting that work experience is a desirable admission requirement not an essential admission requirement. If you have not completed relevant work experience you may submit two academic referee reports. Please note that at least one report needs to be academic therefore you can not submit only two work experience referee reports. Also as an example, if your academic record was completed over 10 years ago and you have trouble obtaining your academic referee report, submit a cover letter explaining your circumstances, and include a referee report from someone who is able to comment upon your written work, eg. research involvement, publishing of articles, or consultancy work.

Do the Referee Reports need to be academic or professional?

The referee must be familiar with your work and be able to comment on your professional competencies. Applicants are required to submit two referee reports, one of which must be academic and the other related to your relevant work experience (if applicable). If you have not completed relevant work experience you may submit two academic referee reports.

What if my referee has not returned the referee report to me by the closing date?

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that a COMPLETE application is submitted to the Faculty of Science or International Office by the closing date. Late applications are not accepted. If the application is incomplete ( ie. one or more referee reports or the clinical doctorate application form is not received at the Faculty of Science by the closing date) the application can not be evaluated nor considered for interview. The applicant must chase up the referee to ensure the application is submitted on time. It is the applicant's responsibility to advise the referee of the application deadline and follow up the reciept of the referee report.

How do I submit confidential referee reports?

You must ask your referee to return the completed referee report to you in a confidential sealed envelope. The envelope must be sealed with the referee's signature over the seal. You, the applicant, must then attach the two sealed enveloppes with your application forms, and submit them together as a package to the International Office or Faculty of Science. Referee reports must be confidential, therefore the applicant must not open the envelope.

Can I submit my application forms first and my referee reports at a later date?

NO. You application will be considered incomplete if received at the Faculty of Science or International Office without two referee reports attached, and will be returned back to you in the mail.

When do applications close?

The last Friday in October of each year.

Is it OK if my application is post marked with the application closing date?

No, your complete application must be received at the Faculty of Science or International Office by the end of business on the closing date. Applications received after the closing date may not be considered.
