Offer of a DCP/MSc Place

The processing of applications for the DCP/MSc involves application evaluation, successful selection interview, and application ranking. Successful applicants will be contacted by phone or email in early December.

Acceptance of offer

After receiving an offer of a place on the DCP/MSc program, applicants are to advise of their intention to accept or decline the place over the phone or via email, within a specified time period. The Faculty of Science will then send a formal offer letter to the applicant, in the mail. At this busy time of year, it may take a week or longer to receive this offer letter. Applicants must then accept this formal offer in writing, by completing and returning the form via fax, mail or email. The process of offering places often continues into January of the following year. Applicants who have not received a first round offer in early December may be advised by email if they have been placed on the reserve list. Unsuccessful applicants are not advised of the outcome of their application until the offer process has been completed.

Full fee paying place

Commonwealth Supported Merit place (CSP)

The top ten ranked successful applicants will be offered a Commonwealth Supported Merit (HECS) place on the DCP/MSc program. Applicants will be advised at the time of offer, if they are awarded a CSP (HECS) place, all other applicants will be offered full fee paying places. To be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Merit place you must be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen. Recipients of the places must enrol AND REMAIN ENROLLED on a full-time basis, and are expected to accept the place in the semester of offer: no deferral will be permitted. Please note the CSP places is for the first two years of full time enrolment in the DCP, the third year is RTS funded therefore does not incur coursework fees. Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship in Clinical Psychology

The Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship was established in 2008 through a donation from Tanya’s parents, Justice Ronald Sackville and Mrs Pamela Sackville, with matching funds from the School of Psychology and Faculty of Science, and additional donations from relatives and friends of the family. The purpose of this annual scholarship is to provide financial support to postgraduate clinical doctorate students studying clinical psychology, and is intended for those students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial hardship or need. The scholarship shall be awarded under the following conditions:

  • The name of the scholarship shall be the Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship in Clinical Psychology.
  • The value of the annual scholarship is $7,000, payable as a one-off payment.
  • One scholarship will be awarded annually. If there are no suitable candidates in any one year, two annual scholarships may be offered the following year.
  • The scholarship shall be awarded by the School of Psychology, on the recommendation of the Dean. Successful applicants will be selected by the Head of School in consultation with the Clinical Associate Head and other senior academics of the Clinical Psychology Unit involved in the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology/Master of Science degree.
  • The tenure of the scholarship is one year. Students are eligible to reapply.
  • The scholarship shall be open to full-time students in the School of Psychology’s Doctorate of Clinical Psychology/Master of Science degree
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent resident status.
  • Applicants shall be required to submit an application form with full academic records attached.
  • Applicants shall be receiving Centrelink support.
  • The scholarship may not be awarded to an applicant who is in receipt of another award of equal or higher value.
  • Scholarship allowances will be paid in two six-monthly allocations.

Pending fourth year results

If you are currently completing your honours year or fourth year equivalent, you will be required to submit to the Faculty of Science, an updated official transcript (original or certified copy) which includes your fourth year results. You do not need to provide this to the Clinical Psychology Unit

Provisional registration

You are required to obtain provisional registration (or if applicable full registration) with the NSW Psychologists' Registration Board for the three years of full time enrolment in the DCP/MSc. You are advised to commence seeking provisional registration IMMEDIATELY. Click here for details of provisional registration.

Criminal Records Check, Prohibited Employment Declarations & Adult Vaccinations Record Card

All students will be required to complete forms at enrolment, for a criminal record check, prohibited employment declaration and Adult Vaccination Record Card .

Enrolment

Students are to enrol on Thursday 19 February 2009. Students with surnames starting with A-F can enrol 9.30am - 10.30am, G-L 10.30am - 11.30am and M-Z 1pm -3pm. Orientation

The Orientation meeting will be held on Wednesday 25 February 2009 from 2pm. The Orientation meeting will provide an opportunity to meet staff and fellow students of the Clinical Psychology Unit. You will to hear important information about the course, and become familiar with the facilities of the CPU. It is compulsory for all first, second and third year students to attend the Orientation meeting. For first year students the orientation meeting will include an introduction to the CPU and teaching program, clinic information and clinic tours. All students will be issued with a course handbook. Semester dates

Semester 1 commences Monday 2 March 2009. Your first day of teaching will commence Monday 2 March at 9am. You will however be required to attend the Orientation meeting the Wednesday prior, as specified above. Please see Semester Dates for 2009 for further important 2009 semester dates.

Tutoring Opportunities

At the end of January or early February, the School of Psychology calls for students who are interested to work as a tutor. You may submit an application using this web form. If you wish to apply, but do not know your availability, submit the form anyway. You can update your information by resubmitting the form at a later date. Alternatively, view the DCP/MSc timetable for your availability. First year students may be available on Fridays, Wednesday afternoons and a half day on Thursdays, dependent upon their scheduling of clinical vivas and internships.
