Postgraduate coursework scholarships for local students
At the time of application, students are only able to apply for postgraduate coursework scholarships. Students are not eligible to apply for postgraduate research scholarships until enrolled full time in the research degree in third year.
Postgraduate coursework scholarships for International students
At the time of application, international students are only able to apply for postgraduate coursework scholarships. Students are not eligible to apply for postgraduate research scholarships until enrolled full time in the research degree in third year. When applying for postgraduate scholarships as an international student, the earliest an offer of a DCP/MSc place can be confirmed is the first week of December.
Australian Psychological Society (APS) Clinical College Student Prize
The prize includes publication of the student's thesis on the APS College website, publication of the students name and thesis title in the College Journal, and presentation of a Certificate at an APS event in the student's state.
NAHSSS Clinical Psychology Scholarships
Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship in Clinical Psychology
The Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarships is only available to students who have been offered a place on the DCP/MSc program or to students who are currently enrolled. The Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship was established in 2008 through a donation from Tanya’s parents, Justice Ronald Sackville and Mrs Pamela Sackville, with matching funds from the School of Psychology and Faculty of Science, and additional donations from relatives and friends of the family. The purpose of this annual scholarship is to provide financial support to postgraduate clinical doctorate students studying clinical psychology, and is intended for those students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial hardship or need. The scholarship shall be awarded under the following conditions:
- The Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship in Clinical Psychology is to the value of the annual scholarship is $7,000, payable as a one-off payment, in two six-monthly allocations.
- One scholarship will be awarded annually. If there are no suitable candidates in any one year, two annual scholarships may be offered the following year.
- The scholarship shall be awarded by the School of Psychology, on the recommendation of the Dean. Successful applicants will be selected by the Head of School in consultation with the Clinical Associate Head and other senior academics of the Clinical Psychology Unit involved in the Doctor in Clinical Psychology/Master of Science degree.
- The tenure of the scholarship is one year. Students are eligible to reapply.
- The scholarship shall be open to full-time students in the School of Psychology’s Doctor of Clinical Psychology/Master of Science degree.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent resident status.
- Applicants shall be required to submit an application form with full academic records attached.
- Applicants shall be receiving or in receipt of Centrelink support in the previous year and/or provide evidence of financial hardship eg. Evidence of low income, tax return and/or expenses.
- The scholarship may not be awarded to an applicant who is in receipt of another award of equal or higher value.

RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS
Postgraduate research scholarships for local students

Research Training Scheme (RTS)
The Research Training Scheme (RTS) provides eligible Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students with an entitlement to be exempt from paying a student contribution or a tuition fee for the duration of an accredited HDR course, up to a maximum of four years full-time equivalent study for a doctorate by research (including a professional doctorate which meets the research program criteria), and two years’ full-time equivalent study for a masters by research. The RTS replaces the Research Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) Exemptions Scheme.
Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA)
Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA) are offered to postgraduate research students undertaking a higher degree by research at the University of Sydney. Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) are Commonwealth Government scholarships awarded to students of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research at an Australian university. The University of Sydney Postgraduate Award is offered to applicants ranked on the Australian Postgraduate Award order of merit list.The University of Sydney Postgraduate Award has conditions and allowances similar to the Australian Postgraduate Award. However, the award is funded by the University of Sydney and is not transferable to other institutions.
Students are not eligible to apply for an APA or UPA until third year of the DCP/MSc program when enrolled full time in the MSc. Applications close in October of second year.

Postgraduate Research Support Scheme (PRSS)
Postgraduate Research Support Scheme (PRSS) provides direct support for currently enrolled postgraduate research students, with the award of funds by the School of Psychology to applicants on a competitive basis according to the University's general guidelines.
School of Psychology Research Funding
In addition to the University's Postgraduate Research Support Scheme (PRSS), the School of Psychology offers the Postgraduate Research Grant (PRG) and Student Travel Allowance (STA). Applications for all three funding sources open in late March and there is the possibility of a second round of applications in August.
