MCP MCP/PhD Offer

Offer acceptance

- Successful applicants will be informally offered a place in the MCP or MCP/PhD by phone. Applicants may either accept or decline the place over the phone within a specified time period (offers can not be deferred).
- A formal letter of offer will be sent to your application portal by the Faculty of Science once approved by the Faculty Associate Dean. Applicants must formally accept or decline the offer through the application portal. Offers not accepted through the application portal by the specified deadline will lapse.
- Applicants who have not received a first round offer in early December may be advised by email if they have been placed on the reserve list. A second round of offers will be made mid December. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified through the application portal. Unsuccessful applicants are not advised of the outcome of their application until the offer process has been completed by the end of December, noting, in some cases the process of offering places may continue into January of the following year until all places have been accepted.

Offer

- Commonwealth Supported (Merit) Place (CSP)
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) will be offered to ten top ranked successful applicants. Advised at the time of offer. Eligibility: Australian citizens, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holds, New Zealand citizens. Recipients must enrol AND REMAIN ENROLLED on a full-time basis. Deferral is not permitted.
- Fee paying place
Next ten ranked applicants will be offered fee paying places. Advised at the time of offer.

- Conditional Offer (Pending Fourth Year Results)
Students who are currently completing their fourth year, will be required to upload their final official academic transcript to their application portal within the time frame specified on the offer letter. Do not provide this to the Clinical Psychology Unit. Contact the Admissions Office for assistance or to discuss the conditions of the offer.

Centrelink Youth Allowance
- MCP Students eligible Federal Register of Legislation - Approved tertiary courses at Masters level
- MCP/PhD students enrolling in the double degree do not qualify for Centrelink Youth Allowance due the structure of the program, to be eligible, a course must be the shortest pathway to registration.

Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships
Tanya Sackville Memorial Scholarship in Clinical Psychology - Applications close first Friday of Semester 1.
Research scholarships - MCP/PhD Students first eligible when enrolled full time in the PhD in second year. Not eligible in first year.

Students will be able to enrol online within 24 hours of accepting their offer online in their application portal.

AHPRA Registration

AHPRA registration - Students are to submit an application to AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia for provisional registration for an accredited professional degree or, where applicable, full registration. AHPRA requires evidence of current enrolment in the MCP or MCP/PhD program, however, students may submit an application prior to enrolment. The University will provide this evidence by way of a letter to AHPRA confirming student enrolments once all students have enrolled by January or February.

Criminal Record Check | Working with Children Check | Vaccination
Students are advised to commence vaccinations immediately after receiving a offer for a MCP or MCP&PhD place. Some vaccinations take up to 6 months to complete eg. Hepatitis B boosters. Students are to aim to have all vaccinations finalised (including boosters) by first week of March for the clinical placements verification session. Vaccination cards may be downloaded or collected from the Student Centre in the Jane Foss Russell Building G02. Clinical Placement verification session is scheduled on Tuesday 4 April 1-4pm in Burkitt Ford Lounge of the Edward Ford Building. All documents are submitted to the University at the Clinical Placement Verification session with the exception of the Working with Child Check which is submitted to psychology.pgadmin@sydney.edu.au

Tutoring Opportunities

In the last week of January, the School of Psychology calls for students who are interested to work as a tutor. You may submit an application using this web form. If you wish to apply, but do not know your availability, submit the form anyway. You can update your information by resubmitting the form at a later date. First year students may be available Thursdays in Semester 1.
