The 4th International Meeting of the
Australian Learning Group
Darwin, NT, Australia
July, 2010
ALG2010
In 2010, the Australian Learning Group will hold its fourth international conference. The meeting is to be held in Darwin, from the 8th-10th of July.
The conference offers an opportunity to discuss any issue related to the study of learning and behaviour. The schedule includes talks concerned with classical and operant conditioning, animal cognition, behavioural neuroscience, learning and reasoning, implicit learning and memory, associative learning theory, and comparative studies of behaviour.
Talks and posters will run across three full days, beginning Thursday 8th July. We will use the same successful format used at previous meetings, with a single stream of talks each running for 20 minutes (plus question time). As with the previous 3 meetings, we have a very high quality mix of international and local research.
About the ALG
The ALG is a group of researchers with common interests in learning and behaviour, predominantly based in Australian universities. Members of the group meet regularly to discuss recent developments in research and theory. Every few years the ALG holds an international conference to bring together a larger audience of Australian and overseas researchers. All three of the previous meetings were held on Magnetic Island, in 1996, 2001, and 2006, and the event has been steadily growing in popularity. This time around we have decided to change location to Darwin. This decision was made for a number of reasons, perhaps most importantly to give everyone a chance to explore a different part of Australia!
Darwin and surrounds.
Darwin is a small but vibrant city and a popular tourist destination. As the capital of the Northern Territory, it is well placed to explore some of Australia’s most unique and beautiful natural attractions, including Kakadu National Park. July falls in the middle of the dry season in northern Australia, and the weather in Darwin around this time is typically warm, sunny, and very pleasant.
Attendees are strongly encouraged to take at least a few days before or after the conference to explore the region around Darwin.
